Gua Musang Umno to call for special EGM at Friday meeting
[GUA MUSANG, TUES, April 1, 2008] - Gua Musang Umno division will hold a meeting on Friday to approve a motion calling for a special extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to discuss the party’s dismal performance in the last general election.
Gua Musang Umno Youth chief Bazlan Baharuddin said the meeting would be chaired by the division’s chief Tengku Tan Sri Razaleigh Hamzah at 10am at the division’s office in Bukit Cekati here.
Sources told Bernama that former cabinet ministers and Umno veterans would also attend the meeting.
Tengku Razaleigh had said previously that the EGM was to enable all, including party members at the grassroot level, to discuss issues in the aftermath of the recent election.
The former finance minister had also expressed his willingness to contest for the post of party president at the party’s general assembly in December, if he garnered sufficient nominations. -- BERNAMA via nstonline
