Perak MB To Seek Audience With Sultan To Apologize Over His Action In Ordering The Transfer Of Perak Islamic Affairs Department Director
"I fully respect and will always humbly abide by whatever decisions by the Sultan of Perak. I will seek an audience with His Royal Highness to hand over my letter of apology as soon as possible," he said in a statement issued to Bernama here today.
Yesterday, the Sultan directed Mohammad Nizar to withdraw the transfer order issued to Datuk Jamry Sury on Tuesday and to reinstate him as the state Religious Department director.
A statement on the matter was issued by the Sultan's private secretary Datuk Abd Rahim Mohamad Nor, which also directed Mohammad Nizar to have an audience with the Raja Muda Raja Dr Nazrin Shah to explain the transfer.
It also stated that in the event that Jamry had breached any rules or committed any offence as regards the administration, the state government is required to submit the matter formally to the Sultan for him to make a decision on the necessary legal process before any final decision is made.
Jamry, who has been the state Religious department director since 2004, was issued with a 24-hour transfer order by the Pakatan Rakyat government on April 29 for allegedly refusing to cooperate with the government.
Mohammad Nizar had played down Jamry's transfer, saying it was a normal transfer of a state government officer.

PENANG: Perak Sultan Azlan Shah has no jurisdiction over the transfer of Datuk Jamry Sury from the Perak Religious Department, Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh said.
“The constitution of Perak clearly provides that the Rulers must act on executive advice.
“Sultan Azlan Shah did not have any say, as the Ruler of Perak, in the decision made by the state government and, by law, the palace cannot order the state government to reinstate Jamry,” Karpal Singh said, citing the case of the Federal Territory Education Director and Others vs Loot Ting Yee which was decided in the Federal Court in 1982.

Griffith University : Judge accuses Aussie varsity of promoting hardline Islam
MELBOURNE: A judge has likened Griffith University in Brisbane, which last year boasted it had attracted "two prominent Malaysian figures" to undertake their PhD research there, as propagating hardline Islamic teachings similar to the madrasah in Pakistan.
Queensland District Court judge Clive Wall also accused Griffith of promoting a Muslim ideology espoused by Osama bin Laden, founder of the al-Qaeda terrorist network.
In an e-newsletter last June, the Griffith Islamic Research Unit (GIRU) announced that Parti Keadilan Rakyat adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim would undertake research at GIRU.
The Australian newspaper quoted Wall as accusing Griffith of becoming an "agent" for propagating hardline Islamic teachings by using funds from Saudi Arabia.
But GIRU director Mohamad Abdalla rejected accusations that funding from Saudi Arabia would be used to promote Wahabism, saying that his centre was opposed to the hardline ideology, and was in favour of moderate Islam. - Bernama

To establish the rule of the Shari’ah is to do the work of the prophets
To establish the rule of the Shari’ah is to do the work of the prophets
If along with the work which you are doing, you could also enforce the Shari’ah you would be doing the work of the prophets (peace and blessings upon them), and would be rehabilitating the desolate house of Islam and restoring its glory. We Sufi, on the other hand, if we work for years and years, even lay down our lives in this cause, shall never reach anywhere near you. – sheikh waliwibowo
PM: Tell your family before you convert
By V.P. SUJATA
PUTRAJAYA: The Government will soon introduce a regulation requiring non-Muslims wishing to convert to Islam to inform their family before doing so.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said this would prevent problems of families disputing the conversion of their loved ones when they die.
He suggested that non-Muslims who intend to convert have a form or letter declaring that their families had been told and had understood his or her decision.
Noting that there was no such regulation at present, Abdullah advised them to inform their families to “make things easier for everyone.”
“We will have a regulation. When a person wants to convert to Islam, we have to ask him whether his wife knows about it. If people want to convert, there is nothing wrong, why must they hide? Tell them (the family).
“We don’t want problems later when the man converts and converts the children also, when the wife has rights too,” he told reporters after chairing a meeting of the National Council on Islamic Religious Affairs here yesterday.
Abdullah pointed out that withholding such information from the family would pose a problem to religious authorities performing their duties.
He said he told those at the meeting that religious issues were “very sensitive” and should be tackled wisely to avoid racial tension.
This included the demolition of places of worship and funeral disputes, he said.
Abdullah also said that it was agreed that the halal certificate would now be issued by the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HIDC) but would still bear the logo of the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim).
He said the meeting also discussed the assimilation of Jakim’s research officers into the HIDC.
