Warning to Bani Israel: ‘Ye verily will work corruption in the earth twice, and ye will become great tyrants.’ - God

In The Night Journey 17:5 The Lord said: “So when the first of the warnings came to pass, We sent against you Our servants given to terrible warfare: They entered the very inmost parts of your homes; and it was a warning completely fulfilled.”
In Jeremiah 25:9 The Lord said: "I will send for my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. I will exterminate them and make them a thing of horror and derision, a scandal for ever."
In Jeremiah 52:4 to 27 the annihilation of the Jews along with their king Zedekiah and his sons and the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonian Nebuchadnezzar in 586B.C. are mentioned in detail. The Babylonians penetrated through their lands, their temple, and their homes, and carried away the Jews, men and women, into captivity.
The return of the Jews from the captivity was about 520 B.C. They started life afresh. They rebuilt their temple. They carried out various reforms and developed a new Judaism under the guidance of prophet Uzayr (as).
In The Night Journey 17:7 The Lord said: “So when the second of the warnings came to pass, We permitted your enemies to disfigure your faces, and to enter your Temple as they had entered it before, and to visit with destruction all that fell into their power.”
The Jews again showed a stiff-necked resistance to Allah's message in the time of prophet Isa (as); and the inevitable doom followed in the complete and final destruction of the temple under Titus in 70 A.D, when they rejected the message of Isa (as).
The misery of the Jews lasted from the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus to the establishment of their state in 1948. If they again make mischief in the world, there will be no respite for them. It is a prophecy: “It may be that your Lord will have mercy on ye, but if ye again return (to disobedience) We too will return (to punishment), and We have made hell a prison for the unbelievers.” [17:8]

For Anwar, a First Step Is Not a Misstep

IGP sues Anwar for defamation
By : Sushma Veera
pix: Kamarul Hisham Kamaruddin, lawyer for Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan, leaving the High Court Registry after filing the suit against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday
KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan is fighting the allegations that he fabricated evidence against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim more than a decade ago.
Three weeks after a police report was lodged against him by the Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader, Musa yesterday broke his silence and countered with a suit.
Earlier, the IGP had given Anwar 48 hours to apologise over the police report, which Musa described as "malicious, slanderous and libellous".
The apology did not come and Musa yesterday filed suit through his counsel, Kamarul Hisham Kamaruddin, at the High Court Registry.
The suit was filed on a day when Anwar went public with more allegations of Musa fabricating evidence against him in 1998 (See Page 6 (print version –ed.) ).
At almost the same time that Musa's suit was filed, Anwar was at the Anti-Corruption Agency giving his statement on the report he had lodged on July 1.
In that report, he accused Musa and Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail of fabricating evidence during investigations into the "black eye" incident in 1998.
Anwar was assaulted by the then inspector-general of police, Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Noor, while being detained at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman.
In the investigations that followed the assault, Musa was the investigating officer while Abdul Gani was the head of prosecution at the Attorney-General's Chambers.
Musa, in his statement of claim, said Anwar's police report, in its natural and ordinary meaning, alleged that the IGP had misused his power to fabricate evidence.
"It also indicated that I was dishonest and an irresponsible person," Musa said. He contended that by lodging the report, Anwar had committed defamation repeatedly when he allowed the report to be reproduced on several websites, including his own blog, which is accessible by the public.
Musa argued that Anwar had acted as such to:
- divert public attention and focus away from the sodomy accusation by Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan;
- influence the public into thinking that the sodomy accusation was a political conspiracy against him; and
- to destroy any credible evidence and statements gathered by the police and witnesses in the likelihood that he is charged.
"As such, Anwar lodged the police report not to report facts but to support and justify his accusations."
The IGP claimed an unspecified amount in damages for slander and sought an injunction restraining Anwar, his servants or his agents from further publishing the defamatory words, costs and other relief deemed fit by the court.
In an immediate response, Anwar said: "I will deal with it (the suit) in court. I will be happy to face him in court."

Top cop sues Anwar for defamation
KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 — Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan (picture) filed a defamation suit against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Kuala Lumpur Civil High Court at 11am today for alleging that he fabricated evidence in the former deputy prime minister's black eye assault 10 years ago.
The suit was filed through his lawyers Kamarul Hisham and Hasnal Rezua and it is for an unspecified sum, although Kamarul confirmed that in the earlier letter to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim demanding a retraction of his alleged defamatory statements, the amount specified then was RM5 million.
In a move designed to put pressure on Anwar, the lawsuit is a follow up to Musa's letter to Anwar dated July 11 asking the Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader to apologise to him within 48 hours or face a legal suit.
Anwar lodged a police report on July 1 accusing Musa and Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail of fabricating evidence for his black eye assault by former police chief Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Noor the night of his arrest in September 1998.
Musa was then the investigating officer while Abdul Gani was the senior deputy public prosecutor for his sodomy case.
Musa told Bernama last week that he would be filing the suit against Anwar. The Anti-Corruption Agency has taken statements from Musa and Abdul Gani as well as Anwar over the allegations which both government servants claim are false.
Police arrested Anwar after the ACA interview last week for a fresh sodomy complaint against him, which he denies and claims is politically motivated.
After being freed on police bail, he has restarted a nationwide political roadshow to defend against the sodomy accusation and to reiterate his claims that both fabricated evidence.
Anwar is at the ACA this morning for further statements.

PUTRAJAYA, July 21 — Saying he "will be happy to take this in court", Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today welcomed Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan's lawsuit against him for alleging the national police chief and attorney-general had fabricated evidence in his black eye assault 10 years ago.
Musa filed a defamation suit in the Kuala Lumpur High Court earlier today. Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail is said to be considering a similar suit.
The opposition leader also reiterated that "I did, I was, I had to strip naked" despite a denial from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital over his medical examination in relation to a sodomy complaint by his former male aide. This is the second such accusation against Anwar in a decade, both of which he denied and said is politically motivated.
Anwar maintained that he was "saddened that the director (of the hospital) was forced to give such a statement but I never said I was forced to strip. I was asked to give evidence and even though the form that was used was that for a rape victim I had to concede if not some local media will say I was not cooperative."
He gave further reasons why he refused a DNA sample: "The forensic doctor in the first trial made a statement in court under oath that the police took my blood without permission."
He added that since his blood was taken without consent in the 1998 sodomy case, he had given another five samples up to 2004 for purposes of monitoring his health, alluding to the fact that there was enough of his DNA already available.
Anwar also expressed appreciation with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's assurance that Musa and Gani would not be involved in the current sodomy investigations but regretted that "it is a month too late."
"Proceedings have gone, information extracted and all the issues generally quite resolved but at least there is an acceptance that these two cannot be trusted in dealing with my case, but whether they have a lot of influence and say within the police force and A-G's chambers remains to be seen," he added.
He also hit back at claims that he was politicising the ongoing sodomy probe.
"The minister of health said I was politicising it. But who is politicising it? The prime minister, deputy prime minister, home minister — everybody is coming in. I am a vulnerable citizen against the might of the entire government."
Anwar remained confident of his plans to take over the federal government despite what he called "a pattern to demonise and intimidate me."
"Clearly I am seen as a threat because Pakatan wants to pursue an agenda for reform. We are on track to take over the government."Meanwhile, ACA deputy director-general Datuk Abu Kassim Mohamed said the agency is investigating Anwar's complaints against the IGP and A-G without referring to the A-G's Chambers.

ACA to wrap up probe soon into allegations against Musa, Gani PUTRAJAYA: The Anti-Corruption Agency is expected to wrap up this week its investigation into allegations by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan had tampered with evidence in 1998.
ACA deputy director-general Datuk Abu Kassim Mohamed yesterday said all witnesses had had their statements recorded.
"We are satisfied with the evidence and statements given so far. If there is a need to call these witnesses, including Anwar, Musa or Abdul Gani, we will do so," he told a press conference minutes after Anwar, the former deputy prime minister and Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader, left the agency's head office after having his statement recorded for the second time over the allegations.
Anwar had his statement recorded for the first time on Wednesday. On the same day, he was detained by the police in connection with a sodomy allegation against him by his former aide. He was released on police bail.
Abu Kassim said the ACA would decide on the case without referring to the attorney-general.
"There are certain cases which we do not have to refer to him and this is one of them. Even the A-G has made it known that this case did not have to be referred to him as he had been implicated.
"We will study the evidence with our legal director, without fear or favour. The investigation papers will also be studied by our legal director and deputy public prosecutors."
He said there were 31 DPPs in the agency.
On July 11, Musa and Abdul Gani were seen entering the ACA head office, without being accompanied by lawyers.
ACA investigations director Datuk Shukri Abdull had said the agency had questioned 15 people in connection with Anwar's report.
Anwar and his camp have maintained that the latest sodomy allegation was an attempt to divert attention from the fact that he had evidence to prove that Abdul Gani and Musa had fabricated evidence against him 10 years ago in connection with his assault after he was arrested.
A Royal Commission of Inquiry into the incident determined that the then inspector-general of police Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Noor had assaulted him. Rahim later pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to two months' jail.

PM: Arrests show that even big fish can be caught

By JANE RITIKOS

PETALING JAYA: The detention of two top Immigration Department officers by the Anti-Corruption Agency in investigations into allegation of bribery in the issuance of visas to foreign workers if proof that even big fish will not be let off the hook, the Prime Minister said.
Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said that the public was shocked by the detention of the top officers as if it was unusual.
"So they perceive that big guns cannot be arrested and that is why they are shocked? All this while the authorities act on "big or small" people, whether they hold posts or not.
"As long as there is misconduct, the ACA will investigate. If they obtain information that ties the accused to the crime they will surely charge them, " he said after opening the National Summit on Urban Poor and Low Income Groups.
On whether the alleged offence threatened national security, Abdullah said the probe might involve massive work as the ACA would need to identify those involved and the extent of the problem which included training those who had been issued the documents through the illegal means.
He said the alleged offence had caused an undesirable situation.

D-G nabbed by ACA: this is what the institution was created for ... the fight against impunity at the highest level

ACA nabs another top immigration officer
By DHARMENDER SINGH

KLANG: Immigration Department deputy director-general Yusof Abu Bakar and a close relative were on Saturday remanded for five days at the Klang magistrate’s court here to help investigations by the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA).
Yusof, 54, clad in a grey long-sleeved shirt and dark grey pants, and his relative, in a blue T-shirt and jeans, were brought to court at about 11.20am.
The two were handcuffed as they were led to the magistrate’s court here by four ACA officers.
Magistrate Zarifah Zainal Abidin issued the remand starting Saturday at about 11.45am under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
It is learnt that the two were brought to the Klang Magistrate’s Court for the remand because the cases they are being investigated for are said to have been committed in Selangor.
Yusof was arrested at his office in Putrajaya at about 3pm Friday while a close relative of his was picked up from his house in Negri Sembilan at around the same time.
The two are being investigated under Section 11(a) of the Anti-Corruption Act 1997.
Yusof is among 10 people, including lower ranking immigration officers and runners, nabbed by the ACA this week.
On Thursday night, the ACA arrested Immigration Department director-general Datuk Wahid Md Don shortly after he was alleged to have received some RM60,000 from a runner purportedly for a deal involving the issuance of work permits and extensions.

PM studying proposal to remodel ACA

I'm Studying Proposal To Remodel ACA, Says PM

KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said today he has received a proposal from the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) to turn it into an independent agency.

The prime minister said he would study the proposal thoroughly before making a decision.

"The proposal is with me. It was just given to me and I am looking into it before making a decision," he told reporters after opening the retreat for Barisan Nasional (BN) members of parliament.

He was asked to comment on a front-page report in the New Straits Times today that the ACA had proposed that it be allowed to operate along similar lines with Hong Kong's Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, who confirmed the proposal, said the ACA had suggested to follow the operating style of the ICAC.

Since its inception in 1974, the ICAC had embraced a three-pronged approach of law enforcement, prevention and community education to fight corruption.

With the support of the government and the community, Hong Kong has now become one of the "cleanest" places in the world.

Move to woo investors:PETALING JAYA: The new coalition state governments of Selangor, Perak, Penang, Kedah and Kelantan have vowed to implement business-friendly free-market policies to stimulate growth, attract foreign investment and promote greater accountability and transparency in government dealings.
Parti Keadilan Rakyat advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who has assumed the role of spokesperson for the opposition, said the five state governments would initiate dialogues with the foreign investment community already present in each state.
"This is to ensure investor confidence remains strong during the transition period and also to identify areas of concern that our new state governments will address in enhancing and improving their operations and performance in Malaysia.
"Our no-tolerance policy on corruption will have a major impact in reducing transaction costs and building confidence in small- and medium-based enterprises."
Anwar also said PKR's Malaysian Economic Agenda would be implemented at the state level to reduce race-based affirmative action policies and to implement a more competitive, merit-based system.
When asked whether the Barisan Nasional's New Economic Policy would be scrapped, Anwar said there would be a major adjustment to the affirmative action programme.
He said the opposition-led state governments, guided by the constitutional guarantee to protect Malay privileges, would ensure fair treatment for non-Malays.
He added that they would also respect and honour business agreements and arrangements made by the previous state governments.

Hadi: Reject all inducements by BN: PAS has called on elected representatives in the three opposition parties to reject any enticement to cross over to Barisan Nasional.
Rumours are flying that millions of ringgit have been offered to effect crossovers, particularly in Perak where the opposition parties hold only a three-seat majority over the BN’s 28 in the state legislature.
In particular, the racial card is purportedly being played out among Malay elected representatives in PKR and PAS - including the spectre of racial conflict - as a way to convince them to join Umno.
At a press conference today in party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said he wants them to “remain steadfast” and work towards strengthening the opposition-led state governments.
“God-willing, we will walk together to carry out reforms in the administration of all these states to rid them of such negative practices as corruption, cronyism and nepotism which will lead to (other) injustice(s),”he said.
He was flanked by secretary-general Kamaruddin Jaafar and information chief Mahfuz Omar.
Asked if PAS leaders had been approached by Umno leaders to cross over, he replied cryptically: “PAS is me. They have never contacted me.”
In the 12th general election concluded last Saturday, opposition parties wrested control of an unprecedented five state assemblies - Penang, Perak, Kedah, Selangor and Kelantan - and DAP, PKR and PAS have worked out varying arrangements for ‘coalition state governments’.
Abdul Hadi also said those elected must remember that the votes came from all Malaysians, and should not see themselves as representing only one ethnic or religious group.
“We hope these (racial or religious) issues are not invoked - as BN is currently doing - as it will only make matters worse,” he said.
He further cautioned them against exacting “revenge”.
“Those who lost are our people, just as those who won are our people. Do not exact revenge. We have to demonstrate that we are fair to everyone.”

DAP plans reforms in Penang, Umno upset with coming changes

The DAP-led Penang government has outlined several reforms it plans to undertake in the state administration, including awarding government procurement contracts by open tender. Newly appointed chief minister Lim Guan Eng said the party also planned to immediately review the current practice of having only political appointees as representatives in the municipal councils.Speaking to reporters, Lim said effective immediately, information about government contracts and tender bids would be uploaded to an Internet portal for public scrutiny.“We want to run a state administration free from cronyism, corruption and systematic inefficiency.
“Instead, we advocate a stakeholders economy for all based on the principle of shared prosperity in an equitable manner,” he said.Lim said he along with all exco members, state assembly speaker, deputy speaker and the respective heads of the Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP) and Seberang Prai Municipal Council (MPSP) would also be making a public declaration of their personal assets. He added that the DAP-led coalition would also attempt to restore local government elections before the end of its term.In the interim, the state government intends to exercise Section 10(2) of the Local Government Act by appointing professionals and non-governmental organisation representatives as members of local government.

In an immeidate reaction, Penang Umno secretary Datuk Azhar Ibrahim warned that if the new state government goes ahead with its plan to do away with the NEP's practices, it will anger Malays in the state."It will also result in unrest because they will face all sorts of hardship," he said.Despite 50 years of Independence, Azhar said the Bumiputera's equity was still lacking by 18.7 per cent. The group has yet to achieve the 30 per cent target.Azhar claimed the DAP, unlike Barisan Nasional, had never supported and encouraged the NEP."They claimed to represent the people of all races but are they really doing so?" he said.Since the party had been chosen by the people to lead the state, along with Parti Keadilan Rakyat, they should be responsible for each and everyone's well being, Azhar said.

Malaysia's opposition takes over in Penang - Malaysia's opposition was sworn in to power Tuesday in Penang, one of the nation's richest states, and swiftly announced plans to dismantle controversial race-based discrimination policies. Lim Guan Eng, head of the Democratic Action Party, was appointed chief minister after a stunning performance in weekend polls which handed Penang and three other states to a three-party opposition alliance. Lim immediately targeted the New Economic Policy, which was introduced in the early 1970s to bridge the wealth gap between the Muslim Malays who dominate the population and the ethnic Chinese who are successful in business. "We want to run the state government administration free from the New Economic Policy that only breeds cronyism, corruption and systematic inefficiency," he told reporters.
"Instead, we advocate a stakeholders' economy for all, based on the principle of shared prosperity in an equitable manner," he said. Lim said all government contracts would be conducted through an open tender system, unlike the practice of the previous administration. The new procedure takes effect immediately. "To show transparency, information about the tender bids will be uploaded to an Internet portal for all to see," he said.

Malaysian opposition targets race policies, warns govt - Malaysia's opposition Tuesday announced plans to dismantle race-based discrimination policies and warned the government not to sabotage the transition of power as it prepared to rule in five states. After a stunning weekend election performance that seized a third of parliamentary seats and four new states from the ruling coalition, an opposition figure was sworn in Tuesday as chief minister in Penang. Lim Guan Eng, head of the Democratic Action Party which is a part of a three-member opposition alliance, immediately targeted positive discrimination policies for Muslim Malays who dominate the nation's population. "We want to run the state government administration free from the New Economic Policy that only breeds cronyism, corruption and systematic inefficiency," he told reporters.
"Instead, we advocate a stakeholders' economy for all, based on the principle of shared prosperity in an equitable manner," he said. The New Economic Policy was introduced in the early 1970s to bridge the wealth gap with ethnic Chinese who dominate business, by giving Malays advantages in education, housing and business. It was one of the factors behind a flight by ethnic Chinese and Indian voters in weekend polls, which deprived the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition of a two-thirds majority in parliament for the first time in four decades.

Agenda Ekonomi Malaysia akan memacu pertumbuhan - Malaysian Economic Agenda Set to Propel Growth: KeADILan’s economic agenda received a resounding mandate on March 8th when Malaysians went to the polls and quadrupled the number of seats held by the opposition in Parliament, awarding us with 50% of the seats in West Malaysia. After a decade of economic mismanagement, unchecked inflation in recent years and lagging competitiveness vis-a-vis Malaysia’s neighbours, we are confident that under our leadership and working closely with our partners, we will begin to implement policies to ensure a stronger and more vibrant economy in Malaysia.

C-List: Pak Lah Bersih

Bukit Chandan wrote in M-T:
We have started our C-List. 'C' means corruption. M-T will be our main window of receiving names of corrupted Government officials through the many articles, stories and news into our C-List for further action. The names to be given must be linked to corruption cases proven in a court of law. In this case, Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman - SPR, will be entered in the C-List. If anyone wants to remain anonymous, they can e-mail the names to us directly and state the court case and the associated government agency or even a GLC. We hope by doing this, corruption can be eradicated faster and all these people made accountable for their wrong doings. We cannot rely on the ACA, Police Force and Government already because these instutions are widely infested with this disease. Best Regards..........
